Medicaid Benefits
The ACA sets new benefit mandates for Medicaid programs. States may need to update legislation, state plans, provider payment policies, and/or MCO contracts to comply with these requirements.

*Relevance to the ACA:
The ACA sets new benefit mandates for Medicaid programs. The ACA also permits states to add some new benefits and to claim enhanced FMAP for providing certain benefits. The new requirements include:
§2301 – Requires Medicaid to cover freestanding birth center services.
§2302 – Requires Medicaid and CHIP to provide concurrent treatment and hospice care for children when families request both.
§2502 – Requires Medicaid to cover drugs used to support smoking cessation, as well as barbituates and benzodiazepenes.
§4106 – Requires state Medicaid programs to include certain preventive services and vaccines for adults and increases FMAP by 1% for these services when they are offered without cost sharing.
§4107 – Requires Medicaid to cover comprehensive tobacco cessation services for pregnant women.
