Milestone: Identify current statewide data reporting requirements and ongoing efforts to measure and report quality and cost data
Existing data reporting and measurement efforts provide a base on which to build any new systems for data collection and performance measurement needed to support health reform.
*Milestone details:
*Full name: Identify current statewide data reporting requirements and ongoing efforts to measure and report health care quality and cost data.
*Relevance to the ACA:
Many states have access to multiple data systems, such as MMIS, all payer claims database, meaningful use and hospital reporting systems, that can support states in meeting their data priorities. Existing partnerships and data systems may also be manipulated in order to meet new reporting requirements, which include:
§1003 – Requires that states collect data on the types of problems and inquiries encountered by consumers.
§4302 – Requires that federally funded health programs collect data on race, ethnicity, sex, primary language and type of disability in order to better understand health disparities.
