Exchanges: From Planning to Building

State Refor(u)m holds a rich collection of approved exchange establishment grants. And with the HHS application deadline for Level One grants now set at June 29, 2012, your state has time to browse the collection and find good ideas for your own application.

Twelve states were awarded Level One establishment grants on November 29, giving them one year of federal funding to help build their exchanges, and Rhode Island won the first Level Two grant, which provides multi-year funding. Of the thirteen recent awardees, the Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Vermont project grant applications are available on State Refor(u)m:

Minnesota: Prototype Exchange Websites

Consumers can check out potential exchange websites in Minnesota. The state's department of commerce has posted online the interactive prototypes submitted by consulting firms in response to the MN Exchange IT RFP. Not only is the state government evaluating this deliverable from firms bidding for the infrastructure work, but they're giving Minnesotans a chance to test out the sites and provide feedback in an online survey. In California, Dr. Joanne Spetz of the University of California-San Francisco sizes up potential supply and demand of registered nurses in the state for the next 19 years.
